Before starting a fascinating artistic life that would earn her a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Yma Sumac was, in fact, Zoila Emperatriz Chávarry (1922 - 2008), a girl from the heights of Cajamarca who boasted having had exotic birds as singing teachers.
